HOLIDAY!!!

YAY!!! Holiday's here. But I've still got some work to do during the hols. Knowing me, I prolly won't get to it till the last week of hols. Anyway, me mum n me sis are coming on Monday, Im so freakin excited. Went to Watford earlier today. And stopped at Sainsbury's on the way back. Spent mostly on ice-cream. Had Baskin-Robbins' Jamoca Fudge (something like that), so good. And bought 2 boxes of Ben&Jerry's at Sainsbury's, saving that for when me mum n sis are here. Can't wait. And got more chocolate. Haven't been up to anything much since the last entry. I bought 2 pairs of Skechers (a pair of boots and a pair of sneakers)......Love 'em!!!! I got the sneakers for GBP 7. Visited the cinema at the Galleria twice. Can't remember the 1st movie I saw, but the 2nd one was Holiday. Nice movie.

Earlier last month, I went to some fireworks display in St Albans (I think they call it Bonfire Night here, not sure la). My housemate invite, ikut aja. Anyway, we went with the people from church.

Later last month, I went to the Christian Union weekend away at Norfolk. No idea where it is. I know its some countryside la. We stayed in this mansion house. We discussed about the Christian faith, played games, and went for a walk along the countryside.

OKla I'm too lazy to post up anymore pics. Takes too long. Anyway, that's about all I've done so far.

The grass is NOT greener on the other side......

Went to Tesco. I’ve been grocery shopping for these past few days. I bought so much food that it’ll prolly last me a month or so. And I bought chocolate. I’m kinda frustrated now, and two of my stress busters are shopping (even if it’s for groceries) and chocolate (be it bars, cookies or mousse). Last Sunday, I made roast chicken and pasta with bolognese sauce. The chicken wasn’t that bad, so I decided to roast some more chicken today. Just finished a piece. Went to St Albans on Saturday, alone, by bus. I wanted to be adventurous. That’s about as adventurous as I’ll be for now. I’m slowly settling, adjusting and accepting life here. When I was back home, I’ve always wished I was somewhere else, I felt like I was drowning. I wanted to go overseas, live there. Now that I get the chance to, it’s not as nice as I thought. I mean I appreciate the fact that I’m fortunate enough to have the opportunity to further my studies overseas, but there’s still NO place like home. It’s not like I’m utterly homesick or whatever (thanks to web video calling), I mean I can deal with having to walk and to use public transport, but there’s so much going on back home that I feel I’m missing out on. I guess I’m just stressed out about school and life and stuff. And I tend to get irritable. That’s why I’m fully stocked with chocolate. The grass always seemed greener on the other side, but now that I’m on the other side it’s not greener at all. It kinda seems like the previous side is greener. I guess it’s some “optical illusion” of the human mind. I totally didn’t plan on coming here. My mum suggested that I try applying for UK even though we weren’t really planning to go for it. I asked about it at the Uni placement department at Inti. I was told about the procedures and they seemed troublesome for something that I’m not really going for, so I didn’t bother about it and I missed the application deadline. And later someone told me about another pathway to UK that is through Inti Nilai, I had to spend one year there and another year in one of Inti partners in UK. I wasn’t that interested. But I did look through the partners and there was one that kinda caught our eye. And it so happened that during my exam week, this particular uni that we considered with Inti Nilai came to the British Council for the clearing, and on that particular day I had no papers on, so I went and I got in with partial bursary. I was still a bit unsure cos I already had an offer from an Aussie uni which I was eyeing for. Everyone told me to go for UK (my parents like UK), so I just went for it. I applied the visa myself, no help from Inti at all. Coming here was such a rush. I guess I'm used to that since I always leave everything to the last minute. I don’t regret coming here. I chose this path and I will go through it. I'm grateful for this opportunity which has thought me a lot on being independent. I just need to blow off steam along the way. Well, I’ve learned a few things from my rather bumpy journey here:
>Life does NOT always go as plan
>Things always happen last minute
>Just GO for it
>Have faith in God that things will workout
and…………….. *drum roll*……………………
Life is always full of crap!!!!

Dono-wat-title-to-put....

I've been meaning to blog, but was just too lazy to. So I thought I'd just post up a quick entry. These past two nights, my roomate invited me to join some activities hosted by the Christian Union club. Met some interesting people. Some of the locals were impressed by my command in english. One asked where I learned english from. They didn't think Malaysians could speak english, well not that well anyway. And apparently I sound American. Hmmm...... One was amazed by my vocabulary when I said the words drug and sugar-rush. And asked me if there's anything I didn't know. I was kinda stunned by their sakai-ness that my only reply was "thank you". Classes haven't really started yet. I still don't feel like eating. But I do eat like biscuits and fruits but that's about it. I still haven't touched my instant noodles yet. I feel so impoverished over here with the lack of luxuries that I usually get at home. I miss driving around and screaming at the crazy drivers. I miss my bed, my little corner in the study room, TV room, TV, Astro, pirated DVDs, kitchen, toilet, laundry room, living room, air-conds, laksa, kolo mee, chicken rice, RM currency, cooking for the family, Malaysian time, and a whole lot more. There's no place like home. Oh well....

My London Trip...

London Eye
Some bridge
London Bridge (I think)
WW2 Tanker (??)
Some street performer

So went to London today. From London Eye, we walked to St. Paul Cathedral, we got tired of walking and decided to take the bus to some street near to China Town. Dined at HK Diner at China Town. Huge portion. I was already full halfway through. Anyway, here are some of the pics I took, of London Eye and one of the street performers. I've got lots more but I'm too lazy to post them up. This is just a sneak peek. OK...

Over 6000 miles away from home......

Yay!! I finally got the internet connection in my room to work. I've always thought Kuching is kampung, this place is more kampung-er. Serian town is busier than the town centre here. ADUH!!! This place is about a half hour train ride from London. I kinda have this phobia of London cos the last time I was there, I got pickpocket-ed. Will be going there this Sunday though. There's no Tesco here. The only supermarket that sells a bunch of stuff here is called ASDA. Never heard of it. It's at the town centre which is about 20 minutes walk from the campus. I so miss the luxuries of home. There is a shopping outlet nearby though but I've only been in there for about 10 seconds. Since I left on Saturday morning, I didn't have enough time to pack. Especially food. Managed to locate a chinese shop at the town centre that sells "Buatan Malaysia" Maggi Mi. How happy was I. But I did bring along two packs of instant noodles that I bought from Changi Airport. Was in transit there for about 11hours. Didn't rest much in the hotel, kept walking up and down the terminal, looking for stuff to buy. Giordano was on sale, so I bought 5 shirts. My aim was to wear myself out so that I could sleep the whole journey through. It worked. I was on the 11.59pm (don't ask.....PELIK!!) Qantas flight to London. Qantas is nice. Anyway, so touchdown at Heathrow. I arrived at Terminal 4 but the pick up service (by the Uni) was at Terminal 3. I had to lug my luggages to the train which took me to Terminal 3. When I got to Terminal 3, I had to push my luggages UP the ramp to get to the arrival hall. Met up with the pick up service there, and later went to the Uni. Arrived at the Uni and checked into my room. Found out that the stove in the kitchen has to be lit with matches, the starter button doesn't work. Adoi!!! Good thing I had plenty of practice lighting the Bunsen Burner. Not only that, the water isn't chlorine treated, so it shows some powdery substance when boiled, I thought something was wrong with the pan I bought when I boiled the water with it. Oh and the oven has no heating coils, it operates on fire to heat it up. Actual fire in the oven. That's a first. Haven't been eating much for these past few days. More like makan pagi kais pagi, makan petang kais petang. Kinda lazy to cook. Even if its just instant noodles. There's a refectory (ie canteen), and the uni shop sells frozen food....so okla. Asalkan got eat something, cukupla. OKla...malas to continue.>>>Over and out....

Yay!!! Got my UK visa...

Hah....Went to KL on Monday for my visa application. Went to see them on Tuesday, passport ready on Wednesday, collected passport on Thursday. Just got back. All the KL-Kch flights fully booked. Both AirAsia and MAS. In the end got the Business Class seat. Going off to UK on Saturday. Great....more plane rides. I used to love plane rides, but now they make me sick. I don't vomit or anything, just that they give me a headache. I love food. But if I smell food in the airplane, I feel sick. All flights to UK are fully booked. Managed to get a seat on Qantas. So I'll be there on time for the orientation. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. The thought of going away is always inviting, but when the reality of it dawns on me, I can't help but feel sad. That I'll be leaving my family, my nest. Over 6000 miles away from home. That's about 16 hours of plane journey. For the very first time in my life that I'll be on my own. On the brighter note, I'll finally be independent. This is such a bitter sweet situation. Anyway, got tons of stuff to do before Saturday. So.....

New layout...

Got meself a new layout. Got bored of the old one.

This year the Merdeka Parade was held at Kuching.....it was aired on TV but I missed it. Didn't really do much on that day. In the afternoon, attended the "nuns' version of ordination" at Carmelite Church. I was told that it was a rare event. In the evening, went to the Planet Shakers concert, it was nice. It relieved my stress a bit.

Got sore throat when I came back from KL. Was so miserable for weeks but I feel better now. My results came out on Monday....I passed all my subjects....YAY me!! Have been busy settling things that need to be settled now that I've finished my diploma. WOW...that was fast, it felt like just yesterday I had my SPM and worrying about what course to take. Now, I'm a mechanical engineer...but only up to diploma level. I wonder who dares to hire me. Hehehehe........

After so many months.....

WOW...It's been so long since I last blogged. Nothing much happened since then. Started a new semester and turned a year older. Had the World Cup fever. Got out of it when Brazil lost. Sakit hati!!! The semester is almost coming to an end. Will have finals next week. Don't even feel like opening the books. Hopefully everything goes well and I will get my Diploma. Yay!! Then again, that's not the end. Still have to go for a degree. Oh well...

HOLIDAY!!!!!

I’m so glad the exam is over and so is the project. Am enjoying my two week holiday. Pretty much wasted the 1st, so one more to go. So not ready to go back to skool. Hopefully this will be my last semester. Managed to complete a 1000pcs jigsaw puzzle (with help of course)yesterday. It's so big, now i don't know what to do with it. The old house is kinda under renovation and had to clear the rooms. Have yet to move my junk to the new place. Wanted to visit Popular Bookstore but one of the cars is at the garage, and the rest of the cars are used up. I guess that's better for me cos i bought 6 novel (too ambitious!!)and i haven't even started reading them yet. Going there might tempt me to buy more. I'm patiently waiting for my result but not sure when its out. So hope I pass all my subjects. Fingers and toes crosssed... Malas to continuela. I'll end here..

Only my 3rd blog..... ^_^

Yay! I finally managed to get my model to work. Had a presentation yesterday. Might have to improve the model for the final presentation. The ppl who said that they were ready to help me were no help at all. Couldn't even give proper information when I asked them. One kinda criticized my model during the demo, asked me to change the material for certain part. I had a good reason for choosing that particular material. He didn't even help at all and he still wants to criticize my model. I reused discarded material for most part of my model. In real life engineers have to choose the best materials at the lowest cost possible. At least the other two was like "OK" and one suggested that I changed certain part but gave a reason to back it up. Like that OKla, that was because I asked his opinion. Well, I'm really glad that I was able to apply what I learned in thermodynamics to this project. I manage to calculate the velocity, pressure, mass flow rate, work, etc... Well I can relax for now, then have to prepare for the final presentation and exam. Met up with Gurpreet just now. haven't seen her for a year. She asked me to pierce my ears but I chickened out. I'm still not ready, to go through the pain. Oh well may be later this year.

Weekend is over... :(

Had my 1st project model presentation/discussion (something like dat la...) yesterday morning. (One of the subjects I'm taking this term is the course project. I went with the gas turbine engine and I have to do a freakin model which shows the concept of it..DAMN!!)
Went to my mum's boss' house for the staff gathering party.... I met the new Japanese staff, YuHei (I dono how 2 spell his name). Kinda reminds me of Jun (a Japanese student who stayed with me once, again dono how to spell his name) Oh ya..just before we left for the party I fell and sprained my finger. It's killing me right now. The party was fun. Lucky draws, Bingo, Karaoke, ... Love the chocolate cake. YUM!!!
This morning had breakfast with my grandparents at Tsui Hua Lau. The dim sum was nice but I prefer the ones from Hock Hai. Then we went to see the "tukang urut" about my finger. RM15 for an approx 5min session.
I'm gonna donwload some songs 2nite.
